Compost

How is Compost made at Fisher Road Recycling?

Kitchen scraps and yard waste are collected and put through a grinder, once this  is completed the material is moved inside and the composting process begins. It is heated to temperatures exceeding 60 degrees Celsius to ensure invasive species and pathogens are removed from the mixture. The temperature, moisture and oxygen levels are maintained through the entire process, then the material undergoes a Compost Maturity Test, this is to ensure the material is stable and ready for the market. Once it passes this test, it is moved through a 5/16″ screen to remove any foreign objects, it is then stored for additional curing.
